CURRENCY

The local currency is the East Caribbean Dollar, which is broken down into 100 cents. Coins come in 1, 2, 5, 10, 25 and $1 pieces, while notes are issued in 5, 10, 20, 50 and 100 dollar denominations.

TAX

10% government occupancy tax is charged on all accommodations, and many hotels and restaurants add 10% to 15% service charge. For current exchange rate, see the see the currency converter under the Trip Planning section on the Caribbean home page.

TIPPING

10 to 15% tip is customary when there is no additional service charge added to the bill.

TRAVELLER'S CHEQUES

Traveler's cheques are accepted throughout the country.

CREDIT CARDS

Most major credit cards are accepted on the islands.

BANKING HOURS AND AUTOMATED TELLERS

Banks hours are Monday through Thursday from 8:00am to 1:00pm and Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm or 8:00pm. There are few ATMs.
